Automated imaging detects and tracks brain protein involved in Alzheimer's disease

(Massachusetts General Hospital) Applying an automated method to brain images revealed where deposits of tau, a protein implicated in Alzheimer's disease, first emerge in the cerebral cortex. Tau deposits in this tiny region were highly predictive of subsequent tau spread through the brain.
